Aloha!

There are major events on the horizon that promise to reshape our transportation environment for years to come. On the federal level, Congress will craft a new transportation authorization bill that will provide a new vision for transportation investment. A key component of this bill will dictate how and how much federal funds will be disbursed. On Oahu, the City and County of Honolulu appear poised to construct a rail transit system; City and State agencies have identified major roadway projects to address our congestion and economic stimulus investment needs; and the OahuMPO is updating its long-range transportation plan, which will attempt to tie in all of these efforts.

In developing any of our plans, we will cooperatively partner with citizens, community groups, government agencies, and all other interested parties. Outreach to stakeholders, informing them of critical issues facing their communities and providing them with opportunities to offer input, is the keystone of the metropolitan planning process.

Our Web site provides information on the various planning activities of the OahuMPO, such as: the Oahu Regional Transportation Plan (ORTP) for 2035, the Transportation Improvement Program, and the Overall Work Program.  You will also find information on citizen involvement and current opportunities to comment on our plans. Over the coming two years, the vision for Oahu’s transportation system will be shaped with the development of the ORTP 2035.  During this development, there will be many opportunities for citizen involvement, and frequent visits to our web site will keep you informed of these activities.

Welcome to our web site and the world of Oahu metropolitan transportation planning!
